Yu la la
Japanese restaurant

For those who think that Japanese cuisine means sushi-sashimi-teriyaki, let me tell you, there is much much more to it under the rising sun.
Tucked away two seconds away from Ho Vathanatham (Laos cultural hall) right next to the Italian restaurant Café des Arts, the Yu la-la, this tiny little Japanese café owned by a young Japanese couple, offers a tasty home-made Japanese menu of 7 dishes (plus the dish of the week). Japanese curry, meat and rice omelette, meat and potato fritters (koroke), and much more, all deliciously prepared to order and served in their nicely but simply decorated room (where the rule is “shoes off!”, so make sure your sock are whole).
A must? Their impressive and creative array of excellent desserts (quite unusual for an Asian venue) including a warm chocolate cake topped with iced whipped cream to die for…
Check out also their home made drinks such as ginger ale, honey lime soda and hibiscus juice and their coffee.
Prices range from 2,5 to 3 dollars for a set menu (home-made miso soup, small salad, picked goodies and a copious main dish), and 2 to 2,5 for desert.
Lookout for this jewels’ very reduced opening hours : lunch from 11 h – 13h30; dinner from 19 h – 21h30. (Closed on Mondays).
